Distinguished Citizens Award Dinner (DCAD) 2023

Event Details

The Distinguished Citizen Award recognizes noteworthy and extraordinary leadership of citizens in communities across the US. Honoring distinguished citizenship delivers a message to our youth that character counts. The lives of distinguished citizens put into place guideposts that serve to inspire our youth to lead, to accept responsibility, and to care about principles and causes beyond self-interest.

Honoring Stephen Wu – On February 1, 2019, Steve, his wife Mary, and daughter Elizabeth started as leaders in the first Scouts BSA troop for girls registered with the Council, Troop 201 (named after February 1). Steve served as the founding Scoutmaster of the troop until he retired in February 2022.

Steve has also served as a Unit Commissioner, Associate Lodge Advisor for Ohlone Lodge of OA, Council Risk Management Committee Member, and Assistant Scoutmaster for the 2013 Council contingent troop at the National Jamboree. He headed the Law Merit Badge program on the staff of the 2010 National Jamboree, and served on the national Merit Badge Maintenance Task Force.

Steve and his wife Mary have a daughter Kate, son Michael (Eagle, 2014), and daughter Elizabeth (member of the inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts, 2021).

Honoring Lee Kenna – Past Pacific Skyline Council President, past Vice President of ScoutReach and Development and Chairman of SIMCO Electronics. Lee graduated from Duke with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, MBA from Harvard Business School. Lee was also a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army.

Proceeds from this event will directly benefit the Pacific Skyline Council camps and ScoutReach underserved youth. The Pacific Skyline Council, Boy Scouts of America serves all the communities from Daly City and South San Francisco in the north, to Los Altos and Mountain View in the south, to the coast on the west.

We want ALL youth, regardless of economic circumstances to have an enriching and life-changing Scouting experience! Attending summer camp is part of that experience. At PacSky we have three facilities, Camp Oljato in the High Sierra, Boulder Creek Scout Reservation in the Santa Cruz mountains and Cutter Scout Reservation next to Big Basin Redwoods State Park. Oljato offers an amazing summer camp experience for the older Scouts. Boulder Creek Scout Reservation hosts many of our council activities such as Cub-Ons, Gold Rush, and Cub Parent Weekend to name a few. Cutter Scout Reservation is still in the rebuilding process.

All donors who make a gift at one of the sponsor levels will be recognized at the event and on our website.

Past Distinguished Citizen Award recipients include:
