2020 Oljato Summer Camp **CANCELLED**
Update on Pacific Skyline Council Camping Programs
May 20, 2020
As always, the safety of all our members, volunteers, and employees is the Pacific Skyline Council’s top priority. As such, we have taken a careful and informed approach in evaluating the operation of our camping programs this year. Since the spread of this pandemic, we have been continually monitoring the situation, and consulting with health experts, government officials, and other camp professionals.
Camp Oljato, June Cub Scout Day Camps
It is with a heavy heart that we announce, after a thorough review, the Pacific Skyline Council has decided to suspend operations at Camp Oljato for 2020. Additionally, the council has decided to cancel our June Cub Scout Day Camp programs scheduled to be held in Pacifica and Cupertino. We know camp is an important part of every Scout’s summer, and these decisions were not made lightly.
In an effort to provide outdoor programs for our Scouts, we are making plans now for Scouts BSA Day Camp programs, to be held in July and/or August on the San Francisco Peninsula. We aim to release details of these programs in early June.
July Day Camps
Additionally, we are still currently planning to operate our two scheduled weeks of Day Camp in July. These are scheduled to be held in Palo Alto and San Mateo. We will continue monitoring the situation and working with our local health officials as we finalize plans for these weeks. These weeks of Day Camp are:
STEM Day Camp – July 12-17 at the Palo Alto Scout Service Center
Camp Ta-Ki-Ma Day Camp – July 20-24 at Coyote Point Recreation Area, San Mateo
Virtual Programming Continues
Finally, we will be continuing our efforts in virtual programming. Be sure to keep an eye on our virtual events page.
Program Cancellation Communication
Registrants for cancelled programs are being contacted directly regarding fees paid to the council.
Our council and staff are saddened that we are not able to serve Scouts at Camp Oljato or in two of our regular weeks of Day Camp. This is an extraordinarily challenging time; unlike anything we have experienced. Our hope is we all emerge from this challenging moment stronger than before.
Most importantly, we look forward to providing the full range of Scouting programs, including outdoor adventures, as soon as we can and as the situation allows.
We hope all our Scouting families stay healthy and positive in our current environment and join us in preparing for excellent future outdoor programs.
**UPDATE ENDS HERE**

We are very excited to announce that in order to address staffing challenges we had in 2019, we have contracted with Tastebuds Food Service company for Camp Oljato summer 2020! We also heard from troop leadership that more and more Scouts are requesting vegetarian and special dietary need options every year. What will be new and different at Camp Oljato for 2020?
- Each day Scouts will enjoy a unique and plentiful menu delivered by a professional food service director and 3 professional chefs for every meal.
- A revamped and larger salad bar with more vegetarian options will be available.
- Tastebuds can accommodate special dietary needs and requests.
- Every afternoon a healthy snack will be provided!
To make a reservation for your unit, click the green "Register" button (to the right) corresponding to the week of camp your unit would like to attend.
Your initial registration will require a $300 deposit to hold your unit's spot. Attendee counts may serve as estimates until your unit's final balance is due on May 1, 2020. However, we encourage you to make the counts as close as possible to what the actual will be. Full fee and payment schedule information is below. To view our full payment and refund policy, click here.
Each unit is required to have a minimum of 2 adults over the age of 21. Girl Troops must have at least one of these 2 leaders be female. All adults attending summer camp must be registered members of the BSA and have current Youth Protection Training throughout your stay at camp.
To make your initial registration you do not need any information about the attendees. However, all information will be required no later than May 1, 2020. This includes, name, date of birth, gender, and BSA membership number. Additionally, you will need to provide Youth Protection date, cell phone number, and email address for all adults attending. Again, this information will all be required beginning May 1, 2020. NOTE: Merit Badge registration will open on March 15. In order to register any Scouts for merit badges, you will need to provide their information prior to that date and have their deposits fully paid (see payment schedule below).
An account is not necessary to make your reservation, however having an account will make maintaining your unit's registration much easier. Please click the "My Account" button in the upper right-hand corner of this screen and then click the green "Register" button to create your account.
This registration system provides many tools and reports to you, the registration contact. This includes the "Parent Portal" where you can allow individual parents to login, make payments against their Scout's balance, and register their Scout for merit badge classes. To learn more about these tools and the other advantages of your account, click the orange "Support" button in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. There are some great and brief video tutorials.
If you have any questions, feel free to call our office at 650-341-5633.

The campsite matrix below shows current room in each campsite. Your unit will only be permitted to select a campsite that matches your unit's size. The stated capacities are for total participants, youth and adults. The minimum capacity for exclusive use of a site is 75%.
