The Level 1 Archery Instructor Certification Course provides the necessary tools to maintain safety both on and off the archery range and ensures that minimum standards for archery instruction are consistently taught to provide for the safety and enjoyment of the participants, instructors, and spectators.

Level 1 Instructors are well prepared to teach beginner archery programs to people of all ages and abilities in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings.

The Level 1 Instructor will learn about range safety, range setup, the steps of shooting, equipment and repair, programs, and lesson plans.

COURSE INFORMATION

Course Length: 8 hours (Dependent on class size)

Course Cost: $125.00

Certification Period: Three years from the date of course completion

PREREQUISITES

Minimum Age: 15 (A student who is 14 years old and within 30 days of his or her 15th birthday may take the Level 1 Archery Instructor Certification course.  However, the instructor may not submit the Applicant Data form until the student turns 15 years of age.)

 

The Level 2 Archery Instructor Certification Course includes the Level 1 Archery Instructor Certification Course and provides students with an introduction to the National Training System (NTS) Steps of Shooting for recurve and compound, equipment and accessory setup, athlete development and events as well as qualifies students to teach the Level 1 Archery Instructor Certification Course.

Graduates of the Level 2 Archery Instructor Certification Course are well prepared to serve as the lead instructor for long-term archery programs such as Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD), Adult Archery Program, and Collegiate Archery Program clubs, as well as the Explore Archery Program.

Course Length: 12-16 hours (Dependent on class size)

Course Cost: $225.00

Certification Period: Three years from the date of course completion

BENEFITS

Qualified to teach the Level 1 Instructor Certification Course

 

BB gun shooting must be conducted by trained, qualified, on-site rangemasters who direct the operation of the range program and BB gun shooting instruction.  The ratio of BB gun rangemasters to shooters is 1-to-8 on the firing line.  Archery must be instructed by a current USA  Archery Level 1 instructor. 

QUALIFICATIONS

To qualify as a BB gun rangemaster, the rangemaster must be at least 18 years old and be trained by a National Camping School–trained shooting sports director or a National Rifle Association rifle instructor.

To qualify as an Archery rangemaster, the rangemaster must be 18 years old and be trained by a National Camping School–trained shooting sports director, or USA  Archery level 1 instructor.

The Cub Scouts rangemaster also must be registered with the Boy Scouts of America.

Course Length: 3 hours (Dependent on class size)

Course Cost: $10.00

Certification Period: Two years from the date of course completion

Training Cub Scouts Rangemasters

This training includes a practical exercise on how to set up a BB gun, Archery, and Slingshot range, range layout, and have the participants walk through the process of running the range.
