Wood Badge 2025

Premier Leadership Training for BSA Adult Volunteers

Great leaders don’t just show up — they’re trained.
Wood Badge is the Boy Scouts of America’s top-tier leadership development course, built for adult leaders in all programs — Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, and district or council positions.

Whether you're new to Scouting or a seasoned volunteer, Wood Badge will transform the way you lead — in your unit, in your work, and in your life.

What Is Wood Badge?

Wood Badge blends Scouting values, modern leadership theory, and immersive outdoor experience into one unforgettable course. You’ll work in teams, solve challenges, and experience the Scouting program the way youth do — moving from Cub Scouting to Troop to Venturing-style adventures.

Participants leave with powerful tools, renewed energy, and a stronger connection to the mission of Scouting.

Why Attend?

  • Build practical leadership and team-building skills
  • Improve how you guide youth, parents, and volunteers
  • Strengthen your unit’s program and teamwork
  • Experience meaningful personal growth
  • Gain a network of supportive, like-minded Scouters

This course is hands-on, interactive, and fun — and it prepares you to make a lasting impact.

Who Can Attend?

You’re eligible if you:

  • Are registered with the BSA as an adult leader
  • Have completed Basic Training for your position (wearing the "Trained" patch)
  • Are physically able to handle light walking and outdoor camping

Returning Wood Badge graduates may attend again. Speak with the Course Director for details.

Course Format

  • Two full weekends of immersive, camp-based training
  • Day and overnight activities (base camp only — no hiking required)
  • Small group (patrol) work, presentations, and real-time application
  • A post-course “Ticket” — your personal plan to bring it all back to your unit

Medical & Safety Info

All participants must complete the BSA Medical & Health Record (Parts A, B & C).
Concerns about physical limitations? Talk to the Course Director — accommodations can often be made.

Because Scouts Deserve the Best

Wood Badge doesn’t just teach leadership — it creates leaders who inspire, serve, and grow others.
Take the next step in your Scouting journey. Lead with purpose. Serve with confidence. Change lives.
