ScoutReach Spring Break 2-Day Camp 2023

ScoutReach Spring Break Day Camp 2023
Anthony Chabot Equestrian Center
and Regional Park, Oakland, CA
Don’t miss out on Scout Fun and two days in the outdoors! Cub Scouts can expect to participate in:
- Meet and Greet Horses! (no riding)
- Learn how to take care of a horse
- 1.5 mile hike (slow pace) in the forest of Anthony Chabot Regional Park
- Nature Discovery
- Leatherwork and other craft projects
- Group Games
WHO: This Camp is open to Scouts of ScoutReach units in Oakland/San Leandro, CA: Burckhalter Elementary, Lockwood CUES Elementary, Highland Community, MLK Jr Elementary, Emerson Elementary, East Oakland Pride Elementary, Korematsu Elementary, Esperanza, Washington Elementary.
***THIS IS NOT A SCHOOL ASSOCIATED EVENT. NO SCHOOL IS INVOLVED WITH THE PLANNING OR SUPERVISION AT CAMP. THIS IS STRICTLY THROUGH THE BOYS SCOUTS OF AMERICA***
PARENT ATTENDEES (optional, but need at least 3!): A few parent volunteers are needed! We would like about 3-6 parents to participate in the event and assist leaders in monitoring small groups of 10. The hike is "easy" but will have some uphill portions at which we will adjust pace and take rest breaks. Parents will need to take Scouting's Youth Protection Training - a 72 minute online course that can be done in segments.

Please note: The Council places the safety and well-being of our Scouts, parents, campers and volunteers at the forefront. Day Camp will only go forward if it is safe and in compliance with local, state and Boy Scouts of America directives. The ability to proceed with camp depends on having a sufficient number of volunteers to ensure the proper supervision of campers as well as a sufficient minimum number of participants.
Note: Camp activities are subject to change based on current local COVID-19 guidelines, weather, and BSA requirements.
