Event Details

The Scouting America Golden Gate Area Council International Committee and the
Mount Diablo Amateur Radio Club are presenting JOTA/JOTI 2024 at Pacificon℠

JOTA-JOTI (Jamboree-on-the-Air-Jamboree-on-the-Internet) is the world’s largest digital Scout event taking place on the Internet and over the airwaves. Held every year in October, the event connects millions of young people around the world for a full weekend of online activities that promote friendship and global citizenship. JOTA-JOTI enables young people and volunteers to participate in fun and engaging group activities over the Internet and amateur radio focused on developing 21st-century skills through Scouting.

Date: Saturday, October 19, 2024.

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Typical time onsite is 1-2 hours.

Place: PACIFICON℠, San Ramon Marriott, 2600 Bishop Drive, San Ramon, CA

Cost: $10 (JOTA/JOTI); $15 (1 if taking 1 merit badge include JOTA/JOTI). Both include JOTA/JOTI patch and general admission into Pacificon for Cub Scout, Scouts and Adults in full uniform

Note:  Snacks, drinks, or lunch are NOT provided, so bring your own. Food will be available for purchase.

IMPORTANT:
Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA and adult uniformed leaders should be dressed in full uniform.
All Scouts should have their Medical Forms A,B in their possession while attending the event

Activities:

JOTA/JOTI for all Scouts:  $10 includes general admission and JOTA patch. Please register for one of the 1-hour time slots

For Cub Scouts: 

Plan to spend about one hour for a docent-led tour of the event, including learning about Amateur (HAM) radio, listening (and possibly talking) to Ham Radio operators and Scouts around the country and world.  We will also have computers for the JOTI online communications.  Come between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Parents must stay with their Cub Scouts during their visit.

For Scouts BSA & Venturers: 

Plan to spend about 1-2 hours for a docent-led tour of the event, including learning about Amateur (HAM) radio, listening (and possibly talking) to Ham Radio operators and Scouts around the country and world.  We will also have computers for the JOTI online communications.  Come between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Optional Merit Badge Classes for Scouts BSA and Venture Scouts (Scout rank and above, NO Cub Scouts):  $15 Merit Badge includes event patch (Radio (09:00 a.m - 3:00 p.m.) and two Electronics MB sessions (08:30 a.m.  -12:30 p.m.) and (1:00 PM - 4:30 PM). Electronics has prerequisites
Space for Merit Badges is limited (20 for Radio and 10 for each of the 2 Electronics MB sessions). 
Scouts can ONLY register for ONE Merit Badge.
If staying through lunch either bring your own lunch or plan to purchase food at the event.
 

Electronic kit building (required for Electronic Merit Badge) can be purchased on-site (tentative cost $5 - bring cash). This part of the event is suitable for Scouts BSA, Venturing Scouts, and older Cub Scouts.

One-Day Amateur Radio Technician License Class (9 am to 3 pm.  Registration can be found here:

Limited number of Boy Scout of America Jamboree-on-the-Air 2024 patches will be available.  Be sure to register at : pending   (see above) by October 17 to ensure you get a patch. 

Although the merit badge activities will only be on October 19, Scouts can come again on October 20 for the kit building, etc. There is no Pacificon entrance charge for Scouts in full uniform..
