Cub Scout Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) Training

(REQUIRED FOR ALL CUB LEADERS WANTING TO HOST AN OUTDOOR OVERNIGHT ACTIVITY)

The Briones & Herms Districts invite All Cub Leaders & interested parents to participate in the Cub Scout Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO). This newly expanded 1½ Day BALOO Training Course uses an overnight campout format full of fun and learning to prepare Pack leaders to plan and carry out Cub-appropriate outdoor experiences.

The BALOO training sessions include hands-on demonstration of the why and how of Cub Scout camping --planning, equipment, fire safety, stoves, and lanterns, first aid and sanitation, nature hikes and games, meal preparation, overnight campsite setup and selection, and an evening campfire program.

The key point of BALOO training is "Keep It Simple." Remember, the overnight is an entry-level outdoor experience for the first-time Cub Scout camper. All arrangements -- sleeping, cooking, and program -- should be geared to Cub Scout-age youth.

Course Dates and Times: Saturday October 18, 2025 7:30 AM to Sunday October 19, 2025 12:30 PM

Course Location:               Camp Herms in El Cerrito

Participation Fee:  $50     ($65 after October 1, space available only)

Includes some meals and a great cracker barrel after the Campfire!
