 BOBCAT BONANZA!

October 19-20, 2019

Camp Herms 1100 James Pl. ElCerrito, CA

10:00am Saturday through 10:00am Sunday

Your BRAND NEW Cub Scout (all new Kindergarteners through 5th graders) and family are invited to join us for an introduction to Scouting!  Some of the fun things you will get to do are: shoot a bow and arrow, compete in an obstacle course, take a short hike to the top of camp where you can see the Golden Gate Bridge, participate in a campfire, earn your Bobcat award and most importantly make a s'more!

Here's the all important details:

Camp will begin with check in beginning at 10:00am and program starting at Noon.  Bring your lunch or eat ahead of time, our first meal as a camp will be Saturday dinner.  We recommend arriving no later than 11:00am so you can get checked in and get your tent set up before the fun begins.  Starting at noon, we will bring the camp together and divide everyone into Dens and get them started on their Trail to Bobcat.  Throughout the afternoon your Scout and Adult Partner will have fun as well as walk the trail toward earning their first rank advancement in Scouting, the Bobcat.  Dinner will be served in the dining hall followed by time to go back to camp and put on some warm clothes before heading over for campfire.  During the campfire each Scout who participated in all the days events will be recognized with their first advancement patch for their uniform and get to sing some songs and watch some skits.  On SUnday we will have a flag ceremony in the morning followed by Breakfast a Scouts Own Service and then time to break camp and head on home.  The weekend promises to be a fast one for our Scouts.

What to bring:

  • Your new Cub Scout Uniform -  and parents if you have them please bring yours too
  • a family tent to share with your Scout
  • warm sleeping bags - it can get chilly if the fog rolls in
  • sleeping pad or air mattress
  • a camp or folding chair for each person
  • personal items (including water bottles, sunscreen and toiletries)
  • warm jacket
  • hat
  • comfortable walking shoes
  • flashlights and or lantern

How much does this cost:

Your new Cub Scout is FREE!  You'll hear about Friends of Scouting at some point but for now just know that your Scout gets this weekend complimentary of our existing membership and our generous donations. Each Scout is required to have one parent present at a cost of $25 each.  Additionaly parents and siblings are also encouraged to attend.  Those too young to be official Scouts are $15 and additional siblings are $25 each.

We're excited to have your New Scout and entire family as a part of the Mt. Diablo Silverado Council,  we promise you will see the rewards and value of Scouting while with us this weekend.  Scouting is truly a place to spend quality time as a family while having fun with a purpose!
