SCOUT TROOP ADVANCEMENT TRAINING DAY

Find out the BSA policies and procedures for effective troop advancement.

This training is for new, prospective and experienced troop advancement coordinators, troop committee members, Scoutmasters and parents.

We will offer three adult classes this day, you can sign up for any or all of them

Introduction to Troop Advancement
This class provides new and prospective troop advancement coordinators, troop committee members and parents with the basic knowledge and skills needed to get started. It can also serve as a refresher to veterans. Participants will learn about the advancement process, their unique role in it, and the related BSA national policies and procedures.  12noon-1:20 PM

Boards of Review and Common Advancement Issues
This course covers how to properly conduct a Board of Review and the unit and district level, covering all ranks through Eagle. We will also cover common troop advancement issues and misconceptions.  1:30-2:50 PM

Merit Badge Counseling
This course covers the required procedures for merit badge counseling, clarifies the role of counselors in the BSA advancement program, outlines what process the Scout needs to follow to earn merit badges and discusses the appropriate approaches to use in working with Scouts. We will also cover common merit badge issues and misconceptions. This course will satisfy the basic merit badge counselor training requirement beginning in 2020.  3-4:30 PM
