Training Fundamentals & Trainer's EDGE
Training Fundamentals & Trainer's EDGE
Welcome to Trainer’s EDGE! We look forward to having you as part of this upcoming training.
The purpose of the Trainer’s EDGE course is to provide and help develop the platform skills of a trainer. It is meant to supplement the practice offered through Wood Badge and NYLT staff development, with a focus on the participant, while raising the level of skill a trainer brings to the staff experience. Only practice can polish these skills, but this course is intended to “train the trainer” on behaviors and resources while offering hands‐on experience in methods and media.
In this course, we will be going over some basic information that will help you when presenting to a group. We will be talking about communication skills, how to be comfortable in front of a group, media used in presentations, presentation preparations and other skills to help you become an even better presenter.
Before attending, you will need to prepare a 10-12 minute presentation on any Scouting topic. This presentation will be given to a small group which will give you feedback on how to make your presentation even better. Please include some type of visual aid as part of your presentation. This will allow us to immediately put into practice some of the topics and practices covered earlier in the training that day.
To help keep your registration costs low, we ask that you bring with you a sack lunch and any snacks you might want.
We look forward to seeing you and helping you refine your presentation skills.
