Course Fee: $300

This internationally recognized course is the top tier of Leave No Trace training and provides participants with an in-depth look at the skills and ethics of Leave No Trace. In addition to practical applications of Leave No Trace in the field, participants will also learn about various teaching styles, effective communication techniques, and how Outdoor Ethics fits into the BSA program.

Trek Option: Needs a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 participants to run. If the minimum is not met, the course option will fold into the Non-Trek option. If the Trek option makes, all participants will combine for 2 days of classroom presentations, then the Trek group will split off to spend 4 days and 3 nights backpacking in the Tonto National Forest for the field experience portion of their training.

Non-Trek Option: Needs a minimum of 6 and maximum of 12 participants. All participants will be combined for 2 days of classroom presentations, then the Non-Trek group will split off to camp in a primitive area of Camp Geronimo for their 4-day, 3-night field experience. This option does not require hiking long distances or breaking camp each day.

All meals during the course and necessary course materials are provided as part of the registration fee. A one-year membership with the Center for Outdoor Ethics is also included. Transportation to and from BSA Camp Geronimo is not included in the fee.

A current BSA Annual Health and Medical Record, Parts A, B, and C, will be required to attend the course.

The course is open to registered BSA members who are at least 18 years of age by the start of the course.
