MOUNTAIN BIKING OPEN RIDE - Hosted by GCC Biking Team

Scouts & Scouters 12 years and older: Saturday, May 31, 2025, 6:45 am - 10:30am

Are you new to mountain biking or a seasoned pro? Looking to refresh your skills, improve your technique, enhance safety awareness, and increase your overall enjoyment on the trails? Looking for a Scouting community that loves to bike? Then come prepared with a mountain/gravel bike with knobby tires, a bell, helmet, water, and snacks. 

This is an open mountain bike ride only (not a cycling merit badge event). Participants will be able to practice their riding skills, if needed work on Cycling Merit Badge Option B Mountain Biking (aka trail or mixed surface biking) required ride portion of badge and have fun riding with fellow Scouts and Scouters.

The ride will take place starting at the Pima/Dynamite Trailhead, City of Scottsdale McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

The Scottsdale McDowell Sonoran Preserve is a large, permanently protected, sustainable desert habitat that includes an interconnected network of non-motorized, multi-use trails (hike/bike/horse) accessed from multiple trailhead locations.

The cost is $12 per participant. Sign up by Friday, May 2, 2025, for early bird pricing of $10 per youth participant. Registration closes Friday, May 23, 2025. Adults are free to join with a paid Scout youth.

Participants should bring:

•    Bike with wide knobby tires fitted with a bell (NO ELECTRIC BIKES)
•    Bike helmet
•    Wear athletic clothing
•    Water, trail snacks
•    Sunscreen
•    Signed medical form parts AB&C including completion of physical examination using the Scout medical examination form with health care provider signature.

IF RAINING, OR IF TRAILS ARE SATURATED, WE WILL NOT RIDE. THE SESSION FOR THAT DAY WILL BE RESCHEDULED.

Best entrance is off Pima Road, north from Dynamite.
