Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills-IOLS

Event Details

Welcome to Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills training. The Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) course builds and expands on the concepts and themes introduced in Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training and provides Scouters with the confidence to take youth into the outdoors.

Hands-on participation is the best learning tool, and this course models the techniques used by effective Scoutmasters, advisors, and other leaders in the Scouting program. Attendees will see and experience different aspects of how Scouting works while playing the role of Scouts in a troop.

Who:

Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters

What:

This is an overnight, required training for Scouts BSA leaders. Leaders are only required to take this course one time. We will learn necessary skills, training tips, and tricks to teach Scouts BSA youth how to camp. These skills will help Scouts advance through the rank requirements of Scout through First Class.

Webelos and AOL leaders are welcome to attend. These skills will be necessary for AOL youth as they join the Scouts BSA program. These skills are transferrable for adult leaders to join their new Scouts BSA on their journey through Scouting.
