Shotgun Merit Badge

Scouts will have the opportunity to work on their Shotgun merit badge and participate in open shooting.  The entire badge may be earned in one day, although younger Scouts do usually have trouble completing the entire badge in one day.  We encourage Scouts who are attentive and driven to participate, and encourage younger Scouts who may not be to wait. We highly recommend the Scout be 12 or older and weigh 100 lbs, as younger Scouts may have trouble with the kickback.  About a week before the class, we recommend the Scout work out daily with a dumb bell/weights or push ups/jumping jacks to build up upper body/arm strength.

Cost: $40 per person

Time: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM -  Scouts BSA

We highly recommend the Scout be 12 or older and weigh 100 lbs. 

Participants will have an opportunity to learn how to shoot and hone their skills. This is accomplished in a safe, controlled environment under the watchful eyes of NRA certified and BSA approved instructors.  

PLEASE arrive on time!

Arrive no later than 7:45

Class and safety briefing start promptly at 8:00AM.

What to bring:

• Merit Badge Blue card completely filled out with the Shotgun MB requirement and Option A numbers for the Counselor to sign off, 
• Merit Badge Work Book
• Pen /pencil
• A bottle of water and snacks
• A packed lunch
• Sun screen
• A mask
• Filled out and signed release/Part A form
• We recommend the Activity Uniform for the day,

We will provide all equipment, ammo, targets, and staff.

Lunch will not be provided. Please bring a packed lunch!
