2017 Gila River Trip and Whitewater Training Course

2017 GILA RIVER TRIP AND WHITEWATER TRAINING COURSE

Limited to 16 participants (youth and adults) (youth must participate as part of a unit or be accompanied by another qualified adult)

Minimum qualifications:      14 years of age or older.

Adults must be in good physical condition, have passed the swimmers test, and have basic canoe/kayak skills as outlined in the merit badge books 

Required Merit Badges:  Swimming and Canoeing/Kayaking         

Training will include 8 hours of classroom and flat water training (January 21) and 8 hours on moving water (February 11).  Trip is scheduled for March 3-5, 2017. 

Supervision and training by American Canoe Association Certified Instructors and BSA Aquatics Instructors. 

Cost per participant:  $40.00

Each participant will be responsible for their own equipment including lifejacket, paddle, and canoe/kayak.   

Scouts completing this activity will be eligible to earn the Whitewater Merit Badge
