Campfire Connections

Event Details

Campfire Connections

Campfire Connections is a fun day for your local Troops to showcase themselves to the Webelos and AOL Scouts in local Packs and provide an opportunity for the Cub Scouts to meet the Troops and learn about all the options they have for bridging into Scouts BSA in your area.

Cubs and their families will have the opportunity to talk to, learn about and have fun participating in activities with a variety of Troops.   You have many options for continuing your Scouting journey and with Campfire Connections you can explore them all in one place!

This event is also open to the public, so invite a friend who may be interested in a journey in Scouts BSA to come learn about the program and see which Troop may best fit their Scouting needs.

  • Date: December 12, 2026
  • Troop Check-in / Setup: Noon
  • Event Start for Cub Scouts: 1 PM
  • Event End for Cub Scouts: 4 PM
  • Troop Cleanup Complete: 5 PM

Cub Scouts:

Pre-registration is not required, just show up to Campfire Connections if you choose.  We do have an option for your Scout / Family to register for the event so that you are kept in the loop and get reminders as we get close to our showcase.

You will be asked to sign in upon arriving at the event regardless of if you pre-registered or not, this is just to assist in tracking participation.

You just need to show up, meet all the Troops and have lots of fun!

Scouts BSA Troops:

Please download the Troop Leader guide from this page.  This contains the information found here along with other details about the Troops participating in Campfire Connections.  We want to see you out at Campfire Connections representing your Troop to the community.

Troop registration is $10 per Troop to secure an area for your popup canopy (10x10) and some space in front for an activity if you need.   Troops will be limited to a maximum of 8 members from the Troop at the activity (youth and adult).  All Troops are responsible for meeting youth protection and 2-deep leadership requirements for their Troop at the activity.  Please see the guide leader regarding requirements for setting a canopy up in Pecos park.

Troops will be permitted to come setup at Pecos Park starting at Noon on the day of Campfire Connections; specific locations for your Troop to setup will be designated to you when arriving.  Troops are responsible for bringing all their own supplies to the event, including a canopy and all supplies needed for any activity they choose to host.  We ask Troops to be torn down and cleaned up within an hour of the end of the scheduled event time.

Troops can select an activity from our pre-approved list (see Link below), selection is first come and we want to avoid having duplicated activities at the event (Cubs will not find every Troop with knot tying an adventure filled day).  If your Troop has its own idea for an activity that best shows off your Troop, then you can submit it for review and approval.  Please send any proposed activities to jpiwowscouting@gmail.com .  Some guidelines regarding proposed activities (meeting all of these does not guarantee approval of a proposed activity):

  • No activity will be permitted at Campfire Connections if it has not been pre-approved.
  • Approval of activities is at the discretion of the event organizers.
  • Activities must be appropriate for Cub Scouts and aligned with the Guide to Safe Scouting.
  • Activities must remain in the general area of your Troops popup and designated area near your popup.
  • Activities cannot involve burning of wood, charcoal or other materials.  No activities that would fall under range and target sports will be permitted.  Activities cannot include the use of axes or pocketknives.  Activities cannot involve the launching of items into the air above the height of your canopy or propelling items that will leave the general area assigned to your Troop.
  • Serving food beyond store purchased and individually and pre-packaged items with no food preparation at the event is not permitted.

If you have any questions, please reach out.   We are looking forward to a fun day showing the community and Cub Scouts about the adventures that await in a Troop!
