Programming MB Virtual Class Begins May 7

Grand Canyon Council Virtual Merit Badge Class
Programming
Even with AI tools that can write code, Scouts should still learn to program because programming teaches you how to think clearly, solve problems, and understand how technology actually works. AI can help you write code faster, but it can’t decide what you’re trying to build or check whether the solution really makes sense. When you know the basics yourself, you can guide AI, spot mistakes, and create your own ideas instead of relying on someone else’s. Learning to program isn’t just about typing code — it’s about building confidence, creativity, and realworld skills that will matter no matter how powerful AI becomes.

Before enrolling, Scouts should not be taking merit badge classes without their Scoutmaster's knowledge. Please make sure your Scoutmaster knows you are taking this virtual merit badge class and indicates the Initial Unit Leader Signature in the merit badge in Scoutbook (the Scoutmaster may alternately sign the front of a blue card for the badge instead if desired. Blue cards are available here. send the signed card to: bill.nelson@scouting.org )
