Jan 20, 2026 - 6:30pm-8:30pm AZ time (Arizona is 2 hours behind Eastern Time on this date, know what time it is where you are.)
(note that most of the rest of the US changes their clocks on Nov 2nd, we in Arizona do not)
Fee: $10
Prerequisite 12 years of age or older: Hand in all requirements by 2nd class - Important: This is a brand new merit badge. Because of this, we will go over all the requirements during the first class and show how to answer the requirements and what to hand in. Then the Scouts will have time to do all the requirements as outlined in the Course Information Document and hand them in so we can check them. We will discuss the Scouts' answers during the second class. Because of the heavy MBC/Scout interaction on this badge, we are keeping the class size low. All requirements will have to be handed in by Jan 16 to give us time to review them and the Scouts a chance to correct anything that is incorrect. Requirements may be handed in earlier than the first class if the Scout feels comfortable with the subject matter this will help with requirement reviews.
See the course information document on this page for more information
The Cybersecurity Merit Badge equips Scouts with essential knowledge and skills to navigate and protect the digital world. Scouts learn about online safety, ethical behavior, cyber threats, and how to defend against them using tools like firewalls, antivirus software, and strong passwords. They explore encryption, connected devices, and the risks of public Wi-Fi, while also practicing safe habits like updating software and backing up data. Through hands-on activities, Scouts investigate real-world cyber incidents, participate in cybersecurity challenges, and explore career opportunities in the field.
Before enrolling, Scouts should not be taking merit badge classes without their Scoutmaster's knowledge. Please make sure your Scoutmaster knows you are taking this virtual merit badge class and indicates the Initial Unit Leader Signature in the merit badge in Scoutbook (the Scoutmaster may alternately sign the front of a blue card for the badge instead if desired.
