Grand Canyon Council Virtual Merit Badge Class

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Dates: 

            Dec 22, 2025 - 6:30pm-8:30pm AZ time (Arizona is 2 hours behind Eastern Time on this date, know what time it is where you are.)

             Jan 12, 2026 - 6:30pm-8:30pm AZ time  (Arizona is 2 hours behind Eastern Time on this date, know what time it is where you are.)

(note that most of the rest of the US changes their clocks on Nov 2nd, we in Arizona do not)

Fee: $10

Prerequisite: Age 12 or above:  Hand in all requirements by 2nd class - Important: This is a new merit badge.  Because of this, we are spacing out the two classes to give Scouts a chance to get all the requirements done.  We will go over all the requirements on Oct 28 and show how to use Scoutly the Scouting America AI tool to answer the requirements and what to hand in.  Then the Scouts will have time to do all the requirements as outlined in the Course Information Document and hand them in so I can check them.  We will discuss the Scouts' answers during the second class.  Because of the heavy MBC/Scout interaction on this badge, we are keeping the class size low.   All requirements will have to be handed in by Jan 9 to give us time to review them and the Scouts a chance to correct anything that is incorrect.  Requirements may be handed in earlier than the first class if the Scout feels comfortable with the subject matter.

Before enrolling, Scouts should not be taking merit badge classes without their Scoutmaster's knowledge.  Please make sure your Scoutmaster knows you are taking this virtual merit badge class and indicates the  Initial Unit Leader Signature in the merit badge in Scoutbook (the Scoutmaster may alternately sign the front of a blue card for the badge instead if desired.  Blue cards are available here: https://support.scoutingaz.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/mb-app-blue-card-fillable.pdf  send the signed card to: bill.nelson@scouting.org )

This class begins 6:30pm Arizona Time, if out of state, make sure you understand the time difference before registering

A parent or guardian should be in the room with the Scout to audit the class.
