Grand Canyon Council In-Person Multisport Merit Badge Clinic

Think you're up for the challenge? Scouting Arizona is teaming up with Arizona State University Triathletes and the USA Triathlon Foundation to bring you one of the most exciting merit badge experiences of the year — the Multisport Merit Badge! 

This is not your typical classroom badge. This is about testing your limits, training like an athlete, and crossing a finish line. Literally.

What’s Multisport?

Multisport is a racing event that combines running, biking, and swimming — and this badge is designed to help Scouts level up from individual sports to dynamic endurance challenges. Whether you’ve earned the Swimming, Cycling, Athletics, or Personal Fitness merit badges — or just want to try something new — this badge will push you further.

This merit badge includes a combination of classroom and physical activities, ending with participation in a locally hosted triathlon.

Participants must complete both classroom sessions and a triathlon. Participants will need to bring their own bike helmet to class.

Please note that participants will also be required to complete a four-week training plan prior to participating in a triathlon.

Classroom Dates: 

            Saturday, September 6, 2025

                     10:30am-12:30pm AZ time

            Saturday, September 27, 2025

                     10:30am-12:30pm AZ time

Classes will be held on the ASU Tempe campus. Address and classroom assignments will be emailed to participants.

Triathlon Dates (you must choose one):

            Saturday, October 25, 2025 – Florence, AZ

            Saturday, December 13, 2025 – Anthem, AZ

A separate registration link will be shared with Scouts, and all participants must provide their own equipment.

Fee: $10 (Includes Classroom instruction, USA Triathlon Membership, and Triathlon Entrance Fee)

Before enrolling, each Scout will need to discuss the merit badge with their Scoutmaster and follow the standard “blue card” process. In this case, the Scoutmaster should complete the “Initial Unit Leader Signature” block in Scoutbook.

Pre-requisite: Participants have earned the Swimming merit badge.
