On Rock Climbing/Rappelling Event Saturday October 11th 9:00am-4:00pm.

Please Join us for a fun & exciting day outside on natural rock as you learn modern climbing & rappelling techniques and get to apply them all day on the 35-80’ cliffs at Backbone Rock. This new event is open to all mature Scouting America and Venture Scouts and is a rare treat.

Registration is available on an individual basis and will fill up quickly. The waitlist will be closely monitored and accommodated as we can, so please utilize that as needed. Participants MUST be MATURE and have the ability to follow all instructions and actively participate for the entirety of the Program. This maturity is common amongst 13 yrs and older but can be found in some younger scouts. Unit leaders or parents of younger scouts may be contacted to discuss and ensure maturity.

Adults: This program is designed for scouts to be dropped off and picked back up at the end. For this more remote event Adults are welcomed to stay, but would need to register We can use some help with Adult supervision at the base of the cliff, while the On Rock Leaders focus on program execution. There is a balance on how many people we can have in the small climbing area, so that number is managed through the registration link, please join us if a vacancy exists! We will also try to accommodate registered Adult Climbs/rappels if interested.

All equipment is provided

Scouts MUST provide Lunch, water, Medical Form(A&B)

Scouts will be escorted back to the parking lot at 4pm

Late entry (after 9:30) is not allowed. Early dismissal is for emergencies only.

Horseplay will not be tolerated, and parents will be notified to pick up scouts

Meet at the Backbone Rock Recreation Area (not the campground)

Note* Cell service is poor in this area. Familiarize yourself with the area ahead of time and Staff will likely not have cell coverage day of the event. We will have radios for emergency use.
