The SC Fire Academy will be providing and exiting and educational demonstrations for us: a simulated jet fuel spill fire (yes, they have their own tarmac), a vehicle extrication (jaws of life), the Fire Safety Merit Badge and more!

Theme: Fire Fighters, with Scout activities focusing on fire safety, fire building, physical fitness and first aid / first response.
Friday evening: arrival, check-in, camp site set up and leaders’ meeting (SMs, SPLs, Webelos/AOL Leaders and youth den/patrol leaders, Crews and Post leadership).
Saturday: 3 meals prepared in camp sites, by units. Fire Safety MB sessions, SCFA vehicle extrication, simulated jet fuel fire, gear demo (SCFA details TBD).
Scout skills competitions (round robin): a) fire building, b) physical fitness (3 person team for push ups in 60 seconds, sit ups in 60 seconds, and a cross country relay), c) first aid quiz (burns, shock, stopped breathing), d) emergency / first aid transport: from a smoke filled room (fireman’s carry and chair carry) and stretcher race, and e) Knots, Hitches and Lashing: tie a bowline capable of supporting another Scout, use the timber hitch to move a heavy object and construct a stave ladder able to support a Scout, with elevation no more than 3 feet 11 inches.
Scoutmaster Position Specific training offered on site.
Sunday: 1 meal prepared in camp sites, by units. Interfaith worship service, awards ceremony, patch distribution, camp site break down, camp site inspections, transportation to lower parking lot, clear the grounds.

The footprint at the SC Fire Academy is tight, given their many training stations and simulation areas. Units will need to downsize equipment and pack wisely. I.E. 2 Scouts per tent and PLEASE, no mega-canopies - unless your head count warrants the square footage. A Scout is Thrifty, and land is a somewhat scarce resource in this case. Thank you.
