DES PLAINES VALLEY COMMUNITY MERIT BADGE ACADEMY

Elmwood Park High School

8201 West Fullerton Avenue, Elmwood Park, Illinois 60707

March 25, 2017 – 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Registration

This year all registrations will be online.  There will be no in-person or fax registrations.

Scouts will not be able to attend class if they do not come to MBA with their blue cards signed by their Scoutmaster.  There will be no registrations accepted after this date or on the day of the event, no exceptions.  In addition, it will not be possible to make adjustments to a class schedule the day of MBA.

Classes you register for are not guaranteed, so please choose alternates.  You will receive an email in two business days with your schedule.

Fees

Academy fee is $25.00 per scout. Registration will close on March 20th at 5pm. The fee includes lunch and a Merit Badge Academy patch. We regret that we are unable to accommodate special dietary needs. If you have such needs, please bring your own lunch.

Duties of Each Scout

Most of the classes offered have pre-requisites; some of the classes will not be able to be completed if not started already. It will be the scout’s responsibility to follow-up with a counselor to complete the badge. Pre-requisites can be found at the council office and/or website.  Scouts must come in Class A Uniform (no troop t-shirts) and bring pencil and paper, merit badge booklets (if required) and any items needed for your badges.

Picking your Schedule  See list of badges below

Please remember that the later you register the greater the chance of the classes you choose being filled and closed to registrations.  Please do not pick the same merit badges multiple times.  We are asking for alternate choices for a good reason.  If one of your first choice badges are full we will have to place you in an alternate.  If you don’t select an alternate, we will have to contact you.  While we are waiting for your alternate selection, more merit badge classes will fill, potentially leaving you without an option for an alternate.  PLEASE PICK ALTERNATES!

Schedule

The day is 4 periods in length. There are two periods in the morning and two periods in the afternoon. Classes range from 1 to 2 periods. Scouts can take any combination of period lengths. For example, you may take two 2 period classes, one am and one pm, or you may take one 2 period class in the am and two 1 period classes in the pm, or four 1 period classes.

Contact Theresa Siriano at dpvcmba@gmail.com with any questions.
