Save-A-Lake 2019

Event Details

Save a Lake

Little Rock Lake

Second Weekend September 9-11 cancelled.

We had a challenging yet rewarding first weekend with “Save A Lake” at Little Rock Lake.  45,000 aquatic plants were planted last weekend, that is all of them.  The DNR, Lake Association, and all volunteers attending last weekend were pleasantly surprised that there was not much for garbage around the lake.  So, they have cancelled our second weekend since everything is planted and there is no cleaning that needs to be done at the lake.  Thank you for volunteering for this project.  Take care and keep an eye on this lake as the clarity improves over the next year.

Join forces with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Benton County, Little Rock Lake Association, and the Boy Scouts to save a lake.  Unit leaders, parents, and friends ages 10 and up with a great volunteering attitude are urged to help save a distressed lake.  The Sartell Dam is being dropped down 3 feet on August 1st, 2019 to save Little Rock Lake located just south of the city of Rice.

Assist in shoreline clean up and planting native aquatics around the newly exposed lakeshore.

The project will take place on the first two Saturdays in August 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  You may sign up for one or both weekends.  Each group is responsible for adult supervision of the youth that they sign up with.
