Order of the Arrow New Induction Demo, November 8-9, 2025 OA MEMBERS ONLY

Our Lodge has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to give feedback on a new prototype of the Ordeal experience.  We have been selected by National OA to run a pilot and give feedback on the future of the Induction Experience. 

We are planning to conduct an abbreviated demonstration of the new Ordeal prototype with current members standing in as “candidates.” The new ceremony prototypes are not finalized, and National OA is doing A-B testing with two scripts at different lodges.  They are looking for feedback from all participants and observers.

The rough sketch of the weekend starts with us meeting at Rancho Los Mochos on Saturday for a 7pm check-in.  We would then hold the new prototype pre-Ordeal ceremony that evening, an overnight stay, breakfast, an abbreviated morning of service, lunch, and then the new Ordeal ceremony prototype.  We’d hopefully be done by 2pm on Sunday.

You will receive detailed instructions once registered for the event. In order to participate, you must be a registered OA Member in Golden Gate Area Council.

All participants must have a current Scouting America medical form, parts A, B1, and B2 properly completed.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must bring a paper copy of your medical form to the event. Electronic copies per National policy will not be accepted. If you arrive without your medical form, you will be asked to turn around and obtain a paper copy.

If you are over 18 as of November 8, 2025, you must meet these additional requirements:

1. Have current Youth Protection training through Sunday, November 9, 2025.
2. Be fully compliant with AB 506 which includes mandated state training and a Livescan background check. More information can be found at https://californiascouting.org. Please allow 30 days after your Livescan to complete processing and get the information properly recorded in the council records.
3. All adults staying overnight in connection with a Scouting activity must be currently registered as an adult volunteer or an adult program participant.  Adult volunteers must register in the position(s) they are serving in. Registration as a merit badge counselor position does not meet this requirement.
